M53 & M56 Breakdown Recovery
MWA Recoveries provides 24/7 breakdown and accident recovery on the M53 and the M56.
Get yourself to a safe place first. Then call dispatch with the motorway, the direction you were travelling and the last junction you passed.
Open 24/7. Fully insured. Price agreed before we set off.
The M53
The M53 runs the length of Wirral. It starts at the approach to the Kingsway Tunnel in Wallasey and passes Moreton, Bebington, Bromborough and Hooton to reach Ellesmere Port and Chester.
We cover Birkenhead and Wirral and Chester and Ellesmere Port.
What to do if you break down on a motorway
Leave the motorway at the next junction or services if you can.
If you cannot, pull on to the hard shoulder or into an emergency area and stop as far to the left as possible. Switch on your hazard lights. Leave the vehicle by the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier, well away from the traffic. Do not try to repair the vehicle yourself.
Some stretches of motorway have no hard shoulder. On those, aim for an emergency area, which is marked with blue signs and an orange SOS telephone symbol.
If you are stuck in a live lane and cannot get out safely, stay in the vehicle with your seat belt and hazard lights on, and call 999.
If the police or National Highways traffic officers attend, follow their instructions.
The M56
The M56 meets the M53 near Ellesmere Port. It runs east past Hapsford, Frodsham, Runcorn and Daresbury to the M6 near Lymm, and on towards Manchester Airport.
It is the main road between North Wales, Cheshire and Manchester, so it is busy at holiday times. We cover Runcorn and Warrington.
